So. Today is my birthday. I'm 20. This year will be fun hopefully. My apartment is sweet, it's like a non stop party overe here haha. Being back in Charlotte is cool, even though it's hot as balls. . . . But I'll survive.

Lifetime was soo good. Bronx were great. The ICC was insanely hot, I was starting to prune because it was so damn hot and humid in there. All in all I guess getting lost on the way down was worth the fun that I had at the show. I got some cool stuff too!

I don't understand girls. Or maybe I'm just the one who's complicated.

I went to Dimllo's for dinner tonight and now I smell like fish. Sweet.

I've been playing around with lastFM some more and it's really cool.

So I definitely got that job at Home Depot. I think I'll mainly be working in the garden/plants section, but I'll be getting $8.70/hr so that's pretty cool. I think I'm starting next week. I have to go over on Monday and fill out some paper work and such. Thank God, I'll actually have some money now.

Everybody should go see Teenage Bottlerocket on Monday with The Leftovers at the Dunn St. Legion Hall. They're really good and they came from Wyoming!

[music |Turbonegro]

So for the past two weeks or so I've desperately been trying to get a job. And after weeks of nagging from my mom and filling out applications, I finally did. From now on you can find me working at the Home Depot in Portland, assuming I pass the drug test (which I should). Yeah, sweet shit. I'll be getting $8.70/hr which is pretty good.

It's good to be back in Portland. I've already been to Bubble Tea three times. So good. Other than that I've been hanging out with the gang and such. Tonight we all hung out at Adams. It's been cool to hang out with a lot of people I didn't really used to hang out with before. Grilling seems to be the big thing this summer. Nothing like grilling hamburgers! Or corn or something!

Anyways, yeah I've been having fun since I've been back home and I hope it continues. I should probably start working next week. A bunch of sweet shows coming up including Teenage Bottlerocket and The Apers. Also in the not so distant future I should get to see Lifetime in Boston and hopefully, The Living End, Lagwagon, Lawrence Arms, NOFX, and the Aquabats. Yeah!

I started a LastFM the other day. So I guess if you have one, add me or something.

It was a really good time for me to get a job considering I only have like $60 left in my checking account! EEP!

If all of the songs on the new Saves The Day CD are as good as "The End" then I must have it!

It's finally starting to get warmer down here too. Next week looks to be in the 70s/80s. Woo!

Also, I dunno if I've mentioned it before but there is an assload of wild canadian geese down here. Aparently it's breeding season. So I'm seeing these nests everywhere. There's the mother goose sitting on the nest. Then not to far off is papa goose. I like to check out the nests sometimes. The geese kid pissed off and hiss at me. Sometimes they try and intimidate me by "attempting" to bite me. There's this one that flies at me going for my head! He's vicious! Maybe I'll have some wild goosechase photos in the near future. LOOK FOWARD TO THEM!

I could be in Myrtle Beach right now seeing NOFX and The Lawrence Arms right now. Ugh. I wish I had my car :(

Anyways, I've been listening to "Seeing Double At The Triple Rock" for awhile now. It's a streaming version off of their unreleased EP. I think it's sweet and you should totally listen to it here

I got way too drunk last night . . .

And I paid for it this morning.

[music |NOFX]

Why must I feel so frugal when there's so many great new CDs that I want to buy!?

Anyways, I come home on March 6. . So that should be a swell time. I actually go to Washington DC with all of the first year architecture students on March 2-5. Hopefully it's slightly more fun than it will be educational. If shit goes south I might have to end up taking the train home from DC. I guess United is supposed to go on strike at the beginning of March so that might fuck up my flight plans returning home. Oh well.

Turns out I most likely won't be going to Myrtle Beach on the 27th to see NOFX. Sigh. . . If I only had my car. Well I hope all you dudes back at home have a fun time if/when you go to see them in Woooosta.

As I said I'm torn between the NOFX EP, Loved Ones LP, Lawrence Arms, and Anti-Flag CDs. They really know how to try to put a huge hole in my pocket all at once. Anybody have suggestions?

So I got a letter to the editor published in today's issue of the Press Herald. I had to write it for an English assignment, but hey, it's still pretty cool.

If you want to read it here it is for your pleasure:

Taking the bus creates ties that bind

I am against the switch from the traditional yellow buses to Metro buses ("Portland to consider putting students on Metro," Jan. 31). Designating the Metro buses for school transportation would have a negative effect on the traditional scholastic atmosphere.

Among those affected would be the bus drivers and schoolchildren who would have to endure the change. Many school bus drivers make a living by transporting schoolchildren, so where are they to go when Metro buses replace their jobs? Also, many of the bus drivers love the job because of the smiling faces of the children they get to see every day.

Creating a friendly driver/passenger relationship among the children over the years gives them a reason to return every day to the job. Many children draw pictures for their beloved driver that are then stuck to the ceiling in the same fashion that a mother would stick a drawing to the refrigerator.

I still remember the bus driver I had when I was in elementary school. I was never one of the children who became exceptionally close to Grace of Bus 14, but she was there to greet me with, "Good morning" and a smile every day.

For the good of the children, I hope there's a future for their bus drivers.

Jason L'Heureux

UPCOMING SHOWS! AHH!! [Jan. 24th, 2006|12:14 am]
It would be absolutely awesome if I could go to all of these upcoming shows:

2/25 - NOFX/ The Loves Ones/ Lawrence Arms (House Of Blues, Myrtle Beach, SC)
3/26 - Saves The Day (Tremont)
4/11 Alkaline Trio w/ Against Me! (Tremont)

So yeah, would be sweet. We'll see.

I hope everybody is doing well! CYAA!

So yesterday Adam, Kurt, and I went down to Boston to see The Queers play at T.T. the bear's place. I didn't see any bears, so I'll just assume that T.T. is in hiebernation or something. Anyways, it was a lot of fun. We hung out with this band the Steinways from New York for awhile before and during the show. They sounded pretty good for their set. Yeah, I liked them. So later on The Queers played, and played, and played. . . But it was sweet even though they did play forever. They seemed to have played a lot of older stuff at the beginning, so I didn't really know those songs. So they had a good set overall. Except, when Wimpy came onstage to sing his songs I wasn't too into it. I dunno, just not quite my cup of tea. He's really old and sounds like hes dying haha.

So after the show we hung around for a bit and Adam and Kurt got to talk to Joe so that was pretty cool. Maybe more shows in the future with them. I got to talk to Phillip for a second too. He told me to go to this Punk Rock club in Charlotte a few months ago. I ended up going to see None More Black there so I told him about that. Then as we were about to leave Joe asked us if we could help him move some of their eqipment outside and into the van. So we did. He also showed us this sweet box he had. It was a case for one of the heads used by Green Day. He explained to us that when The Riverdales toured with Green Day Billie Joe gave the box to Ben Weasel, which he later gave to Joe. So I got to help move it out to the van. Which also means I got to touch something Green Day touched haha!

I'll probably post some pictures later if I remember. . .

So the show didn't get over till about 2:30 I think and the drive home following was rediculous. Nothing like 3:30 am Boston traffic. So we got stuck in that for what seemed like forever, then we finally got back to Portland at 5 am. . Really tired. .

I go back to UNC-C tomorrow! So yeah, see ya!
